Spring vents assessed for the Surat Underground Water Impact Report 2012

Abstract

This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.

This shapefile provides the location and source aquifer information for spring vents in the Surat Cumulative Management Area.

Dataset History

Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment (OGIA), 2015. Wetland Conceptualisation; A summary report on the conceptualisation of springs in the Surat Cumulative Management Area, Version 2.0, Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Brisbane.Klohn Crippen Berger (KCBL) 2012. Hydrogeological attributes associated with springs in the Surat Cumulative Management Area. Desktop assessment of the source aquifer to springs in the Surat Cumulative Management Area. Reports prepared for the Queensland Water Commission. Queensland Herbarium (2012), Ecological and botanical survey of springs in the Surat Cumulative Management Area. Report prepared for the Queensland Water Commission. Geological Survey of Queensland 1:250 000 Geological Mapping sheets (Emerald, Duaringa, Springsure, Baralaba, Eddystone, Taroom, Mundubbera and Roma) and DNRM aerial photography.

Source aquifer(s) were assigned to springs in the Surat CMA using the following hierarchical approach:

Where OGIA (2015) completed asource aquifer assessment, the source aquifer(s) is assigned to the spring.

Where KCBL (2012) completed asource aquiferassessment, the source aquifer(s) is assigned to the spring.

Where there have been no previous assessments, OGIA has assigned the likely contributing aquifer(s) based on surface geology, groundwater system understanding, the presence of structures and aerial photography (OGIA, Interpretation, 2015).This is lower confidence due to limited data availability.
