Abstract
The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme. This dataset was derived from multiple datasets. You can find a link to the parent datasets in the Lineage Field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.
Preliminary analysis showed there were no bores from the QLD licence entitlement data extracted for Economic Assets in the top part of the CLM PAE (QLD section of the PAE). Discussions were held with Queensland Department of Resources and Mines validated that there were bores in this area that did not require a licence.
An investigation of the National Groundwater Information System (NGIS) showed that there were indeed approximately 2,400 bores identified as "functioning".
This dataset represents a selection of functioning QLD Bores from NGIS (GUID:e157b1cd-3cb7-4cf9-a13c-a6bed576b8c7) clipped by the CLM PAE and assumed to be unlicenced in QLD. Inclusion of Bores in the CLM PAE that were without licences but were "functioning" bores.
Purpose
Please note there is NO known "purpose" information for these bores and in the abscence of this information they have been classfied "Basic Water Right" in the sub group "Groundwater management zone or area (surface area)". There is also NO known volume of entitlment or take associated with these bores, though there are several methodologies of how this could be allocated.
Dataset History
Dataset was created within ESRI ArcMap 10.1 by selecting all bores from QLD that were functioning from the Bureau of Meteorology National Groundwater Iinformation System database.
("NGIS_Bore_StateTerritory" = 4-QLD AND "NGIS_Bore_Status" = 'FUN')
These bores were then clipped using the CLM PAE and a field was added to the dataset "ASSET_CLASS" and populated with "Basic Water Rights". An extra field was added SubGoup and populated with "Groundwater management zone or area (surface area)".
