CLM - Walloon Coal Measures spatial extent

Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme. This dataset was derived from multiple datasets. You can find a link to the parent datasets in the Lineage Field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.

This shapefile shows the extent of the Walloon Coal Measures in the CLM bioregion.

Dataset History

The shapefile is mostly based on the digital 1:100,000 surface geology map sheet (Qld Geological Survey) and 1:250,000 surface geological map obtained from the Clarence-Moreton SEEBASE project in NSW (see lineage). It is compiled from several sources, including Qld and NSW surface geological maps and well data. In many areas, the exact extent is not well constrained, as this bedrock unit is covered by younger rocks or sediments. Where this is the case, the hard data have been combined with geological expert knowledge. The final shapefile has been created from all sources and expert knowledge in GoCAD.
