Abstract
This dataset were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.
Vegetation in the Namoi CMA (including vegetation of both high ecological value as well as medium and low ecological value) was identified as being groundwater dependent (low, medium and high probability) following a methodology that used current vegetation data, depth to groundwater data, remote sensing data that showed potential frequency of water use other than surface water based on a continuous 10 year period and expert opinion.
A detailed description of the methodology used to create these data can be found in the following document:
Dabovic, J, Kuginis L, Raine A, Hemakumara H, Byrne G, Mitchell, M and Williams J (in prep) Methods for the identification of high priority groundwater dependent ecosystems in NSW . NSW Department of Primary Industries, Office of Water.
This dataset has been provided to the BA Programme on the condition that third parties may not reproduce this dataset. Third parties wishing to use or reproduce this data should contact the data provider.
Purpose
These data provide the location and likelihood of native vegetation being dependent on groundwater using multiple lines of evidence (see above). Thus, they provide a detailed assessment of one aspect the hydrological connectivity (groundwater in this instance) of the native vegetation in the Namoi CMA.
Dataset History
This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.
Data sources:
Groundwater dependency
-
Vegetation: obtained from OEH
-
Depth to groundwater: modelled data provided by Office of Water Hydrogeologists
-
Potential frequency of water use other than surface water based on a continuous 10
year period : This data set was created by Herbert Hemakumara (Office of Water) using
remote sensing MODIS

being significant in various studies (Various Sources)
Positional Accuracy:
The eastings and northings of all points are only approximate.
The shape of polygon features are only approximate.
Data Status:
This is a DRAFT preliminary dataset. The model has been run however the output has
not been checked and field verification has not taken place. The project is on going.
