Abstract
This dataset was created within the Bioregional Assessment Programme. Data has not been derived from any source datasets. Metadata has been compiled by the Bioregional Assessment Programme.
In this dataset we describe the application of Impact Modes and Effects Analysis (IMEA) to the hazards associated with coal seam gas and coal mining operations in the Hunter subregion. Attention is restricted to water mediated hazards, i.e. hazards that might lead directly or indirectly to impacts on groundwater or surface water, and the assets that depend on them. All other hazards, for example the effects of air quality, are explicitly excluded. Full details of the hazard analysis process are described in "M11Systematic analysis of water-related hazards associated with coal resource development" available at http://bioregionalassessments.gov.au/methods/submethodologies.
Purpose
The hazards define the coal resource development activities that potentially impact on surface and groundwater hydrology. They are part of defining the causal pathways between coal resource developments and subregion assets.
Dataset History
Full details of the hazard analysis process are described in M 11: Systematic analysis of water-related hazards associated with coal resource development available at http://bioregionalassessments.gov.au/methods/submethodologies.
