Abstract
This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.
The Queensland Petroleum Exploration Data (QPED) is a subset of the Boreholes Database containing subsurface geological information on Queensland's sedimentary basins. Data are derived from all petroleum and coal seam gas wells, as well as stratigraphic bores drilled by DEEDI and Geoscience Australia (formerly BMR) throughout the State. QPED stores in excess of 8500 wells and stratigraphic bores. Stratigraphic bore data are all open file; data from petroleum exploration and appraisal wells become open file two and a half years after rig release whereas petroleum development wells remain confidential for five and a half years from rig release date. The results of company exploration are complemented by DEEDI's ongoing program of assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of the State's sedimentary basins. In addition to generating additional data to be included in QPED, the investigations verify and standardise company data and interpretations.
Dataset History
Petroleum, stratigraphic and CSG wells acquired from QPED's (Queensland Petroleum Exploration Data) MERLIN database.
