Abstract
The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from information provide by the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. You can find a link to the source dataset in the Lineage Field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.
Schematic geological cross-sections of the Gippsland Basin showing the major geological unit groupings. These cross sections were developed for the Gippsland Context Statement.
Purpose
The purpose of these cross-section is to provide a conceptual insight for the reader into the distribution of the major geological units of the Gippsland Basin. It is not the intention that the cross-sections provide specific details on all stratigraphic units described in the context statement, however, some of the stratigraphic units are named in the diagram to the extent that naming them is useful for the reader to understand the diagram.
Dataset History
The Gippsland cross sections were produced by Steve Marvanek (CSIRO). They were adapted from Nicol C (2010) (GUID: b140974b-8bf9-40dd-a405-21637948c25b) with input from Gabrielle Yates (Geoscience Australia).
