Abstract
This dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme. The parent datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.
This dataset shows major vegetation subgroups within the Galilee Basin subregion which are in direct contact with major water courses.
The dataset consists of two shapefiles:
-
Major_rivers.shp - a 0.5m buffered polygon dataset which shows the major (named) watercourses within the broad rectangular extent of the Galilee subregion.
-
WaterDependentAreas_NVIS_MVS.shp - A shape file of the major vegetation subgroups (clipped to the Galilee subregion) which intersect the Major_rivers dataset.
The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from the "GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3", "Australia - Present Major Vegetation Subgroups - NVIS Version 4.1 (Albers 100m analysis product)" and "Bioregional Assessment areas v03" datasets.
Dataset History
The dataset consists of two shapefiles:
1. Major_rivers.shp
From the WatercourseLines Feature Class of the GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 dataset (GUID: a0650f18-518a-4b99-a553-44f82f28bb5f) features were selected where:
Name 'Null' (named features only); and
HIERACHY = 'MAJOR'
These features were clipped to the arbitrary rectangular extent which covers the Galilee subregion:
N -17.7411755166845
W 137.575465106149
E 150.123625116134
S -30.7645444918563
A 0.5m buffer was applied to these lines to create a polygon output
2. WaterDependentAreas_NVIS_MVS.shp
The Australia - Present Major Vegetation Subgroups - NVIS Version 4.1 (Albers 100m analysis product) dataset (GUID: 5d09d8f2-4471-4503-9de5-1e52009dd7c6) was clipped to the Galilee subregion boundary (as taken from the Bioregional Assessment areas v03 dataset - GUID: 96dbf469-5463-4f4d-8fad-4214c97e5aac). The resulting features which intersect the Major_rivers.shp Shapefile were selected and exported to create the WaterDependentAreas_NVIS_MVS.shp Shapefile.
