The Australian Petroleum Source Rocks Mapping project is a study aimed at improving our understanding of the petroleum resource potential of Australia’s sedimentary basins. As part of this project, the offshore northern Perth Basin source rock geochemistry and maturity have been assessed. This report characterises the organic richness, kerogen type and thermal maturity of source rocks in the offshore northern Perth Basin based on a compilation of updated and quality controlled publically available total organic carbon (TOC), Rock-Eval pyrolysis, organic petrological and pyrolysis-gas chromatography data. This record is an interpretive report of the geochemical data presented in the offshore northern Perth Basin well folio (Jorgensen et al., 2011). Maps of present-day TOC and present-day HI were created to show the spatial variation in the amount and quality of source rocks in the offshore northern Perth Basin. Kinetic data that can be used as input parameters for modelling hydrocarbon generation are also provided for Hovea Member and Irwin River Coals Measures source rocks.
