Strategic Bushfire Management Plan - Fire Management Zones In the SBMP, Fire Management Zones are identified as a subset of BPAs where measurable fuel management treatments are applied. The location and alignment of these zones reflect the risk of bushfires starting and spreading, and impacting on life, property and other assets. Fire Management Zones form an integral part of the ACT Government’s approach to mitigating bushfire risk. The zones established include Inner and Outer Asset Protection Zones, Strategic Firefighting Advantage Zones, Landscape Fire Management Zones, Agricultural Fire Management Zones and Aboriginal Fire Management Zones. Fire Management Zones are the link between the SBMP and the on-ground implementation of fuel management practices and are defined by the ACT Bushfire Management Standards.  Fire Management Zones are reviewed annually to ensure they are kept up to date with the growing urban edge of the ACT. The Commissioner is responsible for approval of these maps.  Please refer to this page for more details on ACT Bushfire Management Standards.
