Envisat was launched in March 2002,by the European Space Agency, it is an advanced polar-orbiting Earth observation satellite which provides measurements of the atmosphere, ocean, land, and ice. This dataset comprises near global (81S - 81N) along ground tracks which are repeated every 35 days, covering the same track as the ERS-1 and ERS-2 satellites. The dataset period covered is June 2003 to January 2008. The data was provided by ESA in France and has been reformatted at CSIRO Marine Research in Hobart to a uniform grid spacing and format. Available on-line on the CSIRO Marine Research network; also available to outside users on request.
