The AUSTopo Topographic Basemap is a seamless, national digital representation of the AUSTopo 1:250,000 topographic map series, delivered as a high‑performance Web Map Tile Service (WMTS). It provides a consistent and reliable portrayal of Australia’s major topographic features, optimised specifically for display at the 1:250,000 scale. This basemap is designed for visualisation purposes and general situational awareness. It is not suitable for: large‑scale cartographic production, navigation or emergency decision‑making or detailed spatial analysis.

Features may be generalised to maintain cartographic clarity at the intended scale.
