Hunter-Mooki Thrust Fault

Abstract

This dataset is derived from NSW Coalfield boundaries provided by the NSW Department of Trade and Investment. A link to the source dataset can be found in the lineage field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.

This dataset is a poly line representing the approximate course of the Hunter-Mooki thrust fault. The fault more or less follows the sections of the boundaries of the Hunter and Gunnedah coalfields.

Purpose

Used for displaying in report map images.

Dataset History

An initial shapefile extracted from NSW Coalfield boundaries (c93d9cbc-22f9-459d-a2d8-e530332393b0) was edited to extend the fault east to the coast and north toward the Gunnedah coalfield. The extensions were digitised manually in ArcMap Editor roughly following the northeastern boundary of the Hunter coalfield and the southeastern boundary of the Gunnedah coalfield. Location is approximate and is suitable only for display on small scale report map images.
