Water Regulation 2002 - s031 water authorities - Queensland

Created 11/11/2025

Updated 11/11/2025

Drainage Boards, Water Boards and Water Supply Boards (former 'water boards') in existence immediately before the commencement of the Water Act 2000 are continuing in existence under the Act and are taken to be 'Water Authorities' with the same name as the former water board. A water authority's main function now is to carry out the 'water activities' decided by it. A water authority with an authority area may carry out water activities outside its authority area in prescribed circumstances. There are two categories of water authorities, category 1 and category 2. Gladstone Area Water Board and Mount Isa Water Board are category 1 water authorities, with the remainder classified as category 2. This dataset is Category 2.
