Created 24/06/2025

Updated 24/06/2025

Remote video surveys were collected at Ashmore Reef in north-western Australia and analysed for sea snake observations. The collection includes existing data from Baited Remote Underwater Video Stations (BRUVS) surveys conducted in 2004 (DEH) and again in 2016 as part of the Global FinPrint Project. The 2021 survey was completed using the Schmidt Ocean Institute Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) SuBastian. A total of 288 hours of video collected between depths of between 13 and 112 m were analysed. These data were published in Speed et al (2022): https://doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2022.921542 Parameters for this study include: Sea snake species identification and number of individuals (relative abundance as MaxN).
