RV Investigator Voyage IN2025_E01 EK80 Echosounder

Created 01/08/2025

Updated 01/08/2025

This record describes scientific split-beam echosounder data collected on the RV Investigator voyage IN2025_E01, Trials and calibrations, which departed Hobart on the 19th February 2025 and returned to Hobart on the 1st March, 2025. The Simrad EK80 split beam echosounders for 18, 38, 70 120, and 200 kHz were used to acquire acoustic backscatter data to a range of up to 1500 m. The 333 kHz was set to passive for the duration due to an issue with the transducer. Active acquisition of the 18, 38, 70 120, and 200 kHz frequencies was sporadic throughout the voyage due to calibrations of other acoustic instruments. Dedicated acoustic interference tests were performed throughout the voyage with different frequencies on active or passive to assess the impact of other acoustic systems on the EK80 data. Details on these tests are contained within the EVERlog records. Data are stored in .raw, .bot and *.idx format at CSIRO. There are 2428 files totalling 30.8 GB of raw data in this dataset. No processing has been conducted on this data. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Additional data products may be available on request.
