This record describes the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V02, titled: "SOTS: Southern Ocean Time Series automated moorings for climate and carbon cycle studies southwest of Tasmania." The voyage took place between March 31, 2024 and April 19, 2024 (AEST), departing from Hobart and returning to Hobart.
ADCPs were switched off during EK80 surveying of Patience Seamount and moorings sites to reduce signal interference during operations. On the 14th of April, the WH75 stopped logging due to checksum errors. Recording was restarted and it resumed logging, however checksum errors continued until it stopped logging again. It was suspected that water ingress had affected the instrument as had previously occurred during IN2024_V01, so the instrument was disconnected from power as a safety precaution.
No issues were reported for the OS150.
ADCP data were collected using the University of Hawaii Data Acquisition System (UHDAS) and post-processed using the Common Ocean Data Access System (CODAS). Documentation for these systems can be found in (Hummon, 2009-2021).
The RDI Ocean Surveyor OS150 and OS75 were run in narrowband mode (nb), the WH75 in broadband mode.
Internal triggering was used.
Both port and starboard drop keels are located approximately 6m below the water line, additionally the port drop keel was extended by 2.0m for the entire duration of the voyage, subsequently the port keel transducer was located approximately 8.0m below the water line.
