This statement supplements Record 1952/46, "Results of Drilling for Open-cut Coal in the Bloomfield Area, Newcastle District, N.S.W.", by G.M. Burton. It covers drilling in the south-south-easterly extension of the main Bloomfield Area. A total of 10 scouting holes were drilled in this extension but the results were so poor that drilling was halted and no testing and defining programme was undertaken. The drilling did not define any reserves of open-cut coal. Seams intersected included the Buttai, Donaldson's, Big Ben and Tomago Thin. It was almost impossible to correlate the seams even in adjoining bore holes.
