Koala Monitoring Program

Council has engaged Endeavour Veterinary Ecology (EVE) to conduct a koala monitoring program at The Mill site during the operational works and construction stage. This program involves fitting koalas with bio-telemetry collars for monitoring, carrying out regular health assessments and providing veterinary treatment in the case of injury or disease. As of 31 February 2022, 113 koalas have been fitted with telemetry devices for monitoring purposes and undergo regular health checks.  The monitoring has assisted officers to locate koalas before construction activities and protect them while works are being undertaken.  The Mill PDA – Protecting the environmental values - Moreton Bay Regional Council Data of known Koala locations is updated on a periodic basis.
