Review of environmental factors : proposed realignment of Great Western Highway at Soldiers Pinch, Blue Mountains

Created 25/06/2025

Updated 25/06/2025

The Great Western Highway at Soldiers Pinch between the Mount Boyce truck inspection station, north of Blackheath and Browntown Oval, 2 kilometres south of Mount Victoria consists of two sealed lanes, one for either direction of traffic. This section includes a number of substandard curves around the Pinch which do not meet current RTA standards of safety or alignment. It is proposed to realign the highway to eliminate these curves with a straighten alignment which would be constructed to meet current road design and road safety standards.
