Brachiopods from the Silurian of Fyshwick, Canberra, Australia

Created 17/10/2025

Updated 17/10/2025

Ten species of articulate brachiopods are described from the Silurian (Wenlock) Canberra Formation of Fyshwick, Canberra. One, Leploslrophia (Leplostrophiella) oepiki, is new and five are referred to species previously described from Canberra Silurian rocks. A species of Atrypa is closely comparable with the Early Devonian Victorian species A. perflabellata, originally referred to Spinalrypa. The Victorian species and the distinction between Alrypa and Spinalrypa are discussed. The remaining three species are described under open nomenclature.
