Discharge data of the GBR region

These products are focused on the catchment area discharging into the marine environment, which impacts the Great Barrier Reef, excluding part of the northern region and inclusive of the southern region in the North-East Coast. This broadly covers the area from Currumbin Creek in the South to Hann River in the North, excluding a few catchments located within the Geofabric North-East Coast region. The stakeholder requirement is for continuous streamflow data at the reporting nodes for marine modelling. Gauging sites were selected based on: * Distance from coast in the catchment, taking tidal effects into consideration and minimising the ungauged area; * The availability of data from 1993-2016 with at least 5 years of operational observed streamflow; * Availability of daily and hourly models to gap fill missing and discarded data; A total of 64 most downstream gauge locations were selected through the process and other locations which did not meet the above criteria were rejected. Continuous gap-filled streamflow time series were created for all 60 CSIRO marine reporting nodes that include: (i) most downstream observed data, gap filled through the application of SWIFT or G2G model, and (ii) estimates of ungauged catchment discharge though G2G model application. Gap-filled daily data is provided between 1993-2006 whilst gap-filled hourly data is provided between 2007-2016. Data provided as part of the gauged region were sourced from the catchments along the coast where coastal nodes had accompanying gauging stations.
