This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Soela cruise SO 5/87. This cruise took place in waters off the east and west coasts of Tasmania during 9-22 July 1987, under the leadership of Nick Elliott. Biological data collected on this cruise include orange roughy catches and catch rates for demersal trawl tows on the St Patrick's Head and the Sandy Cape grounds. Orange roughy length frequency, sex ratios, gonad maturation stage and stomach contents. 7 species of sharks and one unidentified species from the two fishing grounds including catch rates, length frequency, sex ratios and reproductive maturity stage of females. EK 400 acoustic survey data on the two fishing grounds. Hydrographic sampling from Sandy Cape to Storm Bay. Blue grenadier larvae samples from Sandy Cape to Tasman Head, and off Maria Island.
