Shell cross sections of the bivalve Ostrea angasi collected from Pambula Lake, NSW

Created 23/06/2025

Updated 23/06/2025

Petrological and some geochemical analysis methods require the sample to be made into a thin or thick section. This record provides a series of shell cross-sectional images and also outlines the process involved in thin/thick section preparation. This is part of a project that assesses the viability of interpretating environmental records (such as temperature, salinity and heavy metal pollution) from shell geochemistry through trace element and isotopic analysis.
