Marine Data Register (MDR)

The Marine Data Register (MDR) is a database used by the National Seabed Mapping Section at Geoscience Australia to store metadata for Australian seabed mapping data, including bathymetry and geophysical data. It includes an interface to allow external users to submit metadata to support centralised data-discovery, regardless of where the data itself is held. The MDR is a lifecycle management system which documents the acquisition, registration, processing, publication, and decommissioning of data. It powers data search in the public-facing AusSeabed Marine Data Portal and the Query Builder to facilitate the storage and discovery of publicly available and GA-held (non-publicly available) seabed datasets.
