FAQ:Converting data from one geography to another

Use a Coding Index if you have data collected with a partial address and want to assign it to an appropriate geographic area. e.g. Postcode to 2016 SA2

Use an Allocation Table if you want to aggregate a geography up to another within the same hierarchical structure in the same Edition of the Standard. e.g. 2011 SA1 to 2011 SA3.

Use a Correspondence Table if you want to convert data on one geography to another geography outside of the source geographies hierarchy. e.g. 2011 SA1 to 2016 LGA's.
