Room categories are diverse, and range from General Purpose Classrooms (GPCs), sheds or storage rooms, verandahs, electrical substations, and  TV studios. Data is relevant to rooms that exist school sites (i.e. school grounds) owned by DEECD; counts exclude rooms on DEECD-owned non-school sites. It is important to note that rooms are classified according to their actual use by schools, which is may not necessarily reflect intended design. This distinction is useful as it also more accurately reflects the frequency at which rooms serve specific functions. Data is current as per Departmental records on 29 May 2013.
