It is one of the largest catchments in the\nKogarah Council municipality and has the greatest number of reported flooding incidents. The\ncatchment area is predominantly occupied by urban development, including both residential (low and\nhigh density) and commercial/light industrial.\n\nCatchment Description\n\nThe catchment (Figure 1) has two open channel tributaries between the Princes Highway and\nBlakesley Road. The West Street branch which runs between Planthurst Road and West Street, and\nthe Woniora Road branch which runs between Woniora Road and approximately 100m downstream\nof West Street. Upstream of Blakesley Road there is no open channel system and the creek is piped\nwith any overland flow travelling through private property and along roads.\n\nThere are several pipe footbridges and three road crossings over the open channel sections, at West\nStreet, Princes Highway and Carlton Crescent. Carlton Crescent is situated at the downstream end\nof the study area, adjacent to Kogarah Bay. From the outlet upstream to the Princes Highway there\nare significant areas of open space adjacent to the lined channel. Immediately upstream of the\nPrinces Highway the floodplain becomes more restricted and is fringed by Blakehurst High School\nand residential/commercial developments. For all of its length upstream of the Princes Highway the\nfloodplain extends into private property and several properties have been inundated by floodwaters\nin the past.\n\nReport outlines:\n
\n
EXISTING FLOOD ENVIRONMENT
\n
FLOODPLAIN RISK MANAGEMENT MEASURES
\n
", "num_resources": 1, "num_tags": 1, "organization": {"id": "420215ab-0f5e-4ef3-bce1-26cb19016bf0", "name": "georges-river-council-datansw", "title": "Georges River Council", "type": "organization", "description": "Georges River Council is in the southern suburbs of Sydney on the Georges River and is formed from the former Hurstville City and Kogarah City Councils\r\n\r\nhttp://www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/Home", "image_url": "", "created": "2025-06-24T03:20:25.776843", "is_organization": true, "approval_status": "approved", "state": "active"}, "original_harvest_source": {"site_url": "https://data.nsw.gov.au/data/", "href": "https://data.nsw.gov.au/data/dataset/nsw-fdp-kogarah-bay-creek-frmp", "title": "DataNSW"}, "original_name": "nsw-fdp-kogarah-bay-creek-frmp", "owner_org": "420215ab-0f5e-4ef3-bce1-26cb19016bf0", "private": false, "promotion_level": "0", "remote_last_updated": "2026-01-15 00:46:30.949861", "spatial": "{\"type\": \"Point\",\"coordinates\": [147.0179,-32.1618]}", "spatial_coverage": "New South Wales (NSW81093)", "state": "active", "temporal_coverage_from": "2025-12-17 05:38:00.742373", "temporal_coverage_to": "2009-06-01 00:00:00", "title": "Kogarah Bay Creek Floodplain Risk Management Plan", "type": "dataset", "unpublished": false, "url": null, "version": null, "extras": [{"key": "harvest_object_id", "value": "72476a95-6eb9-4788-a0ce-0dbc8ccd87ca"}, {"key": "harvest_source_id", "value": "9ebac586-8e51-4904-9f6c-d9b79726659a"}, {"key": "harvest_source_title", "value": "DataNSW"}], "resources": [{"cache_last_updated": null, "cache_url": null, "created": "2026-01-15T00:46:30.996318", "datastore_active": false, "datastore_contains_all_records_of_source_file": false, "format": "HTML", "hash": "", "id": "6513ff3d-0330-4ce3-9d42-724b7a73a29e", "last_modified": null, "metadata_modified": "2026-01-21T21:51:41.006482", "mimetype": null, "mimetype_inner": null, "name": "Kogarah Bay Creek Floodplain Risk Management Plan", "package_id": "bc9ce4ff-7bd8-450e-8622-4282f562de5d", "position": 0, "resource_type": null, "size": null, "state": "active", "url": "https://flooddata.ses.nsw.gov.au/dataset/d8544469-e21a-4f36-86f6-31bbfaf82e05/resource/27d5d40a-3e8b-423f-b3aa-f50400098444", "url_type": null, "zip_extract": false}], "tags": [{"display_name": "Kogarah Bay Creek", "id": "c754c669-f628-455c-9b95-f2c0a8487692", "name": "Kogarah Bay Creek", "state": "active", "vocabulary_id": null}], "groups": [], "relationships_as_subject": [], "relationships_as_object": []}}
