The prescription may be either area based or watercourse based (or in some area both eg Barossa). This layer contains the linework of the groundwater areas which have been prescribed through legislation. This layer is maintained as the master linework of the prescribed areas within the state.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThis coverage was maintained in an ad-hoc fashion by a variety of agencies through the early 1990's. This layer was redefined in 1997 in order to be the master copy in the state.\n\n\n\nBoundary locations have been checked for positional accuracy against proclamations in the SA Government Gazette. Minor errors have been corrected, but there are numerous examples of where the boundary could not be confidently varified against the current DCDB. Information regarding these errors is available upon request.\n\n\n\nThe dataset is topologically correct. All boundaries and known attributes have been verified by the Water Licensing Group.\n\n\n\nWater Resources Act 1997 - Defines these prescribed areas and policys relating to their relevance to resource management. There are two closely related datasets: Prescribed Watercourses and Prescribed Surfacewater.
