NOGAPS is the Department of Defense high resolution global numerical weather prediction system using a spectral model (GSM) with its development being a joint activity of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the Navy's Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC). NOGAPS data is available in 12 hourly (00 & 12 UTC) Atmospheric variables at 22 levels with a resolution of 1.25 deg. Data has been stored with the following folder convention [nogapsYYMM (YY=year, MM=month)], approximately 730 files per year totaling 5.64 GB with each 12 hr file being 8.2 MB.
