Heat flow in shallow holes therefore appears to increase with the depths of determination. Some data obtained at depths less than 300 m may require positive corrections up to 25 percent, depending on the rate of glacier retreat and the amount of warming. Climatic models formulated for periglacial regions have been generalised for regional use. Surface temperatures are assumed to have increased by 5°C at 15 000 BP.
