Data Quality

Data quality scope:
Level: dataset
Completeness (omission):
Incomplete
Consistency (conceptual):
All wetland points have been visually checked at 1:100,000 scale and by topological consistency checks.
Positional accuracy (external, absolute):
This dataset contains point features with variable positional accuracy. Locations visited have had their position verified by Global Positioning System (GPS), for spring wetlands GPS readings have been taken at the head of the spring and/or main vent. Positional accuracy varies from ? 0.2m to ? 100m depending on GPS technology employed during surveys. Locations not visited for field survey are based on sources described in Fensham and Fairfax (2003). One spring has had its location masked to protect an endangered species, this spring has a positional accuracy of ?10kmThe positional accuracy of point features mapped at a scale of 1:100 000 is /-100 metres.
Attribute accuracy (non quantitative):
The location and attributes for most wetland points have been verified by field survey and GPS. The locations of wetland points not field surveyed are based on sources described in Fensham and Fairfax (2003).

History:

Lineage statement:
This information is a compilation of wetland point data including springs and other point wetland features (rockholes) from the following sources 1. Queensland Herbarium spring location database (SPRLOC) 2011; 2. Queensland Springs database - version 5 2008 (Fensham and Fairfax, 2008); 3. Silcock, J. (2009), Identification of Permanent Refuge Waterbodies in the Cooper Creek & Georgina-Diamantina River Catchments for Queensland and South Australia; 4.
