The data is captured by entering "notice of intent data", reviewing company reports and/or field work. ## **Purpose** To indicate the locations of petroleum wells in Northern Territory and for administration purposes. ## **Dataset History** Derived through the Northern Territory Government, Department of Mines and Energy www.ntlis.nt.gov.au., as follows; Data originally captured as hardcopy. Transferred to Unify database in 1986. Transferred to Access97 database in 1999. Data captured from daily drilling reports, open file comapny reports, geoogical publications, company Annual & Quarterly Reports and in newsprint and over the Internet.
