A re-assessment of stromatolite evidence for the correlation of the late Proterozoic Neale and Ilma beds, Officer Basin, Western Australia

The identification of a stromatolite sample as Baicalia cf. B. burra has been used as evidence for the correlation of the Late Proterozoic Neale beds and Ilma beds in the Officer Basin , Western Australia. However, recent re-examination of field documents has shown that the sample was collected not from an outcrop of Ilma beds, but from a Permian glacial deposit.
