The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.\n\n\n\nThis dataset shows the extent of the Cenozoic basalts within the Richmond River and Logan-Albert basins within the Clarence-Moreton bioregion at both the surface and subsurface.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThe dataset shows where the basalts are present within the Richmond River and subsurface.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThis dataset was created from surface geological maps and interpretation. However, unlike the surface geology map, this dataset also shows where the basalts are present in the subsurface. \n\n\n\nThis dataset was created by removing the alluvial aquifer boundaries from the source data set, and creating a new boundary to indicate where the basalts are present underneath the alluvium. This procedure was conducted using GoCAD 3D geological modelling software (GoCAD™ (Paradigm Geophysical Pty Ltd)).\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\nBioregional Assessment Programme (2015) CLM - Basalt extent. There are two separate programs of bioregional assessments.\r\n\r\nThe Bioregional Assessment Program (2012 - 2017) seeks to better understand the potential impacts of coal seam gas and large coal mining developments on water resources and water-related assets. It is one of a number of actions undertaken by the Australian Government to strengthen the science underpinning decision making on coal seam gas and large coal mining developments.\r\n\r\nThe Geological and Bioregional Assessment Program (2017 - 2021) assessed the potential impacts of shale and tight gas development on water and the environment.
