It is built and maintained by [Geoscape Australia](https://geoscape.com.au/) using authoritative government data. Further information about contributors to Administrative Boundaries is available [here](https://geoscape.com.au/legal/data-copyright-and-disclaimer/).\r\n\r\nThis dataset comprises seven Geoscape products:\r\n\r\n* Localities\r\n* Local Government Areas (LGAs)\r\n* Wards\r\n* Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Boundaries\r\n* Electoral Boundaries\r\n* State Boundaries and\r\n* Town Points\r\n\r\nUpdated versions of Administrative Boundaries are published on a quarterly basis.\r\n\r\nUsers have the option to download datasets with feature coordinates referencing either GDA94 or GDA2020 datums.\r\n\r\n**Notable changes in the February 2026 release**\r\n\r\n* The South Australian State Electoral Boundaries have been updated for this release. These changes reflect the most recent redistribution undertaken by the South Australian Electoral Commission. The updated boundaries will come into effect for the 2026 State Election on Saturday 21 March.\r\n\r\n* Boundary updates within the \u2018Maralinga Tjarutja\u2019 LGA in South Australia have removed a previously existing gap, improving spatial completeness.\r\n\r\n* The \u2018Walcha Council\u2019 LGA geometry in New South Wales has been updated. It now encompasses seven localities (previously six).\r\n\r\n* \u2018Southwark\u2019 (a new locality) in South Australia has been created and added to the dataset, including a new locality polygon.\r\n\r\n* \u2018Asche\u2019 (a new locality) has been introduced in the Northern Territory. This locality was created by splitting Holtze into two parts, resulting in two new locality polygons.\r\n\r\n* A new LGA-locality link has been added for \u2018Bendemeer\u2019 as a result of the updated \u2018Walcha Council\u2019 boundary in New South Wales.\r\n\r\n* There have been spatial changes (area) greater than 1 km2 to the local government areas \u2018Maralinga Tjarutja\u2019 in South Australia, \u2018Walcha Council\u2019 and \u2018Tamworth Regional Council\u2019 in New South Wales, and \u2018Burke Shire\u2019, \u2018Charters Towers Regional\u2019, \u2018Longreach Regional\u2019, \u2018Barcoo Shire\u2019, \u2018Flinders Shire\u2019, \u2018Isaac Regional\u2019 and \u2018Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire\u2019 in Queensland.\r\n\r\n* There have been spatial changes (area) greater than 1 km2 to the localities \u2018Neilrex\u2019, \u2018Daruka\u2019, \u2018Kootingal\u2019 and \u2018Merrygoen\u2019 in New South Wales, \u2018Yarrabilba\u2019, \u2018Petrie\u2019 and \u2018Kallangur\u2019 in Queensland, and \u2018Flinders Ranges\u2019 and \u2018Angorigina\u2019 in South Australia.\r\n\r\n* \u2018Kairabah\u2019 locality has been retired in Queensland.\r\n\r\n* The following wards have been retired in Western Australia: \u2018Breaksea Ward\u2019, \u2018Central Ward\u2019, \u2018Denham Ward\u2019, \u2018East Ward\u2019, 'Frederickstown Ward\u2019, \u2018Kalgan Ward\u2019, \u2018North Ward\u2019, \u2018Plympton Ward\u2019, \u2018Preston Pt Ward\u2019, \u2018Richmond Ward\u2019, \u2018Rural Ward\u2019, \u2018Scotsdale - Shadforth Ward\u2019, \u2018South Ward\u2019, \u2018Town Ward\u2019, \u2018Useless Loop - Pastoral Ward\u2019, \u2018Vancouver Ward\u2019, \u2018West Ward\u2019, \u2018Woodside Ward\u2019 and \u2018Yakamia Ward\u2019.\r\n\r\n\r\nFurther information on Administrative Boundaries, including FAQs on the data, is available [here](https://geoscape.com.au/data/administrative-boundaries/) or through Geoscape Australia\u2019s network of [partners](https://geoscape.com.au/partners/).
