This new backend will provide better continuum sensitivity, wider velocity coverage as well as much more flexibility for spectral line setups. This proposal is to commission BIGCAT to ensure that the available observing modes are tested and ready for ATCA users. This includes doing initial observations of BIGCAT verification fields with CABB to provide baseline observing tests that will then be repeated once BIGCAT is installed on the telescope.
