They provide a consistent evidence base for NSW Government agencies to use in planning for key services and infrastructure in the state, from schools and hospitals to roads and transport.\n\nThese projections have since been superseded. The latest release (at November 2025) is the 2024 NSW population projections, published in November 2024.\n\nThe 2024 projections are available at https://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/data-and-insights/population-projections.\n\nOfficial NSW population projections are updated twice in a five-year cycle.
