Where available, the Data Stream(s) used to generate this Expert Assessment are accessible through the \"On-line Resources\" section of this record.\n\nDESCRIPTION OF ECOLOGICAL HABITAT/COMMUNITY FOR EXPERT ASSESSMENT\nHard corals occur in shallow waters all around tropical and subtropical Australia, forming both biogenic coral reefs and diverse communities of corals growing on rock.  There are coral reefs in the World Heritage sites of Shark Bay, Lord Howe Is, Ningaloo Reef and the Great Barrier Reef (GBR).
