The lower section of the catchment is predominantly occupied\nby urban residential development. A natural escarpment divides the lower section of the\ncatchment from the upper plateau area. This upper plateau is predominantly natural or rural\nland type with some residential development around Stewart Street, The Scenic Road and\nWards Hill Road (Figure 2).\n\nIn light of reported flooding incidents in the study area, and following on from the Killcare\nCatchment Drainage Investigation that was completed in 1999 (Reference 1), Gosford City\nCouncil engaged Webb, McKeown & Associates to undertake a Flood Study.\nThe primary objectives of this Flood Study are:\n
\n
to define the flood behaviour of the Mudflat Creek catchment by quantifying flood\nlevels, velocities and flows for a range of design flood events under existing catchment\nand floodplain conditions,
\n
to assess the hydraulic categories and undertake provisional flood hazard mapping in\naccordance with the NSW Floodplain Development Manual 2005 (Reference 2),
\n
to assess the extent of the flooding problem by undertaking a flood damages\nassessment,
\n
to formulate suitable hydrologic and hydraulic models that can be used in a\nsubsequent Floodplain Risk Management Study.
\n
\n\nAs directed by Council, the scope of this study is such that:\n
\n
the extent of the hydrologic model covers the entire Mudflat Creek catchment draining\nto Brisbane Water,
\n
the hydraulic model incorporates Mudflat Creek from Brisbane Water to a point\napproximately 100 m upstream of Fraser Road,
\n
in establishing the hydraulic model and appropriate boundary conditions, consideration\nhas been made of the impacts of tides and Brisbane Water flooding on the Mudflat\nCreek catchment.
\n
\n\nThis report details the results and findings of the Flood Study investigations, the key elements\nof which include:\n
\n
a summary of available flood related data,
\n
calibration of the hydrologic and hydraulic models,
\n
definition of the design flood behaviour for existing conditions through the analysis and\ninterpretation of model results.
\n
", "num_resources": 1, "num_tags": 4, "organization": {"id": "c3197e8b-da78-4b75-b9e9-ab8cb49e6d66", "name": "central-coast-council-datansw", "title": "Central Coast Council", "type": "organization", "description": "Central Coast Council is responsible for the sixth largest urban area in Australia.
