Enterprise Suitability Maps Using Climate Futures Projections

Classified land depicting the suitability for growing 6 agricultural enterprises (Barley, Poppies, Potatoes, Sparkling wine grapes, Table wine grapes, Wheat) under future climate with the assumption water availability is not a constraint. Suitability is determined from mapped soil and climate parameters guided by established crop rules that allocate the land as either “Well suited, “Suitable”, “Marginally suitable” or “Unsuitable”. Climate Futures Tasmania (CFT) projections were incorporated into the enterprise suitability modelling framework to identify land areas most prone to change under a lower (B1) or higher (A2) emissions scenario at 2030 and 2050.
