This data relates to the proportion of cropping farms which employed conservation, tillage, direct drilling or traditional cultivation methods in the period 1998-1999. The proportion of farms undertaking conservation cropping techniques is reported at the Statistical Division (SD) level for Australia. This data relates to broadacre and dairy farms run by owner managers. The data was collected by Resource Management Supplementary (RMS) survey interview which accompanied the ABARE Annual farm survey in 1998-1999. The data is presented at a scale of 25000000. Projection: Albers Equal-Area Conic Datum: WGS84 Central Meridian: 132 Reference Latitude: 0 Standard Parallel 1: -18 Standard Parallel 2: -36 False Easting: 0 False Northing: 0 The following attributes are contained within the dataset; Sd code – a unique 3 digit code for Statistical Divisions (SD), Sd name – the name of the Statistical Division (SD), tcstub_pl – Proportion of farmers that in 1998-99 sowed by traditional cultivation with the previous crop stubble ploughed in. tcstub_bu – Proportion of farmers that in 1998-99 sowed by traditional cultivation with the previous crop stubble burnt, cut or grazed. ddstub_pl – Proportion of farmers that in 1998-99 sowed by direct drilling into the previous crop stubble. ddstub_bu – Proportion of farmers that in 1998-99 sowed by direct drilling into the previous crop stubble after it has been burnt, cut or grazed. mtstub_pl – Proportion of farmers that in 1998-99 sowed by minimum tillage with the previous crop stubble ploughed in. mtstub_bu – Proportion of farmers that in 1998-99 sowed by minimum tillage with the previous crop stubble cut, burnt or grazed Ag_land_ha – hectares of agricultural land use in the Statistical Division (SD). Note that metropolitan areas are assigned a value of -99999, whilst areas with no data are assigned a value of -88888.
